Rescue |
With over two decades of collective experience and world-class training, our Rescue Team is on call 365 days a year. Equipped with a wide range of specialized rescue equipment, we are ready to handle any wildlife rescue situation that arises. We work closely with the Karnataka Forest Department (KFD) to respond to a wide variety of rescue calls, each requiring a specific skill set and a deep understanding of animal behavior. These calls include: Injuries resulting from human interaction, such as captivity and other cases of animal cruelty.

We average over 100 rescues every month, with the volume fluctuating based on the season. For example, summer brings a surge in avian dehydration cases, while the monsoon season sees an increase in snake rescues. In addition to our collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department, we work closely with local law enforcement agencies, often receiving animals confiscated from citizens with illegal possession, poachers, smugglers, circuses, and private collectors. Our efforts have included the rescue of vulnerable and endangered species such as the Egyptian Eagle, Banded Kukri, Grey Slender Loris, Indian Pangolin, Assamese Roof Turtle, and Indian Spotted Turtle. | Note: Be cautious of unauthorized wildlife rescuers and PfA impersonators. Always ask for the name and ID card of the rescuer attending your call to ensure they are qualified and employed by PfA Wildlife Hospital. (Note: We are not authorized to rescue domestic animals.) Total Wildlife Rescues: 210 Total Species: 3 (As of Dec 2024) |

Rescued Species |
Often, the citizens who report rescues also donate towards medical supplies and nutrition for the short term. This support is crucial to us in many ways, helping to ensure the continued care and rehabilitation of these animals. Among the rescued species, some are endangered, some migratory, and others endemic to the region. We have recorded the rescue of over 200 species, including: |
